I just finished this and it is too personal to post for critique.

Mama's Favorite Chair

Jim Pate (October 11, 2018)

V1

I walked into the old home place

Through the old familiar door

The one I slipped through quietly

So many years before

As I walked into the living room

My eyes began to tear

I thought that I still saw you

Sitting in your favorite chair

(Chorus)

Mama always had a smile

When I saw her resting there

Though it changed from time to time

I really didn't care.

If I could have just one wish more

It's this one I will share

I'd want to see my Mama

Sitting in her favorite chair.

V2

When I was just a little boy

I recall so many times

You'd set me on your lap

And read me stories and rhymes

I watched you read your Bible

And wipe away my tears

All while smiling softly

Sitting in your favorite chair.

(Chorus)

Mama always had a smile

When I saw her resting there

Though it changed from time to time

I really didn't care.

If I could have just one wish more

It's this one I will share

I'd want to see my Mama

Sitting in her favorite chair.

V3

As I close and lock old front door

And leave where I called home

I know you're there in heaven

How I miss you since you've gone

I can see you there with Daddy

And the others who are there

I know you have them in your arms

Sitting in your favorite chair.
