Into the Underground

Recommended Posts

Verse 1

Blow the smoke into their eyes

We'll disappear and they won't know

If it's all the same to you anyway

I'd like to take you with me now

Chorus 1

Move without a sound

Go, go, go into the underground

Into the underground

Verse 2

Hear the wind blowing strong

It's terrifying how it breaks

So long as we stay inside this place

We're subject to the turns and shakes

Chorus 2

But why should it matter?

Why, why, why should it matter?

It doesn't matter.

Chorus 3

Just move without a sound

Move without a sound

Go, go, go into the underground

Into the underground.

Hi bachandl,

Really nice vibe. I could hear someone like Phish playing this. I like how when the drums come in after the first chorus- there's more stereo field represented. Great singing and lead guitar!

2 things for my two cents: 1. something sounds kinda stiff - tambourine? there's a stiff midi feel coming from something in the rhythm tracks. 2. Dynamics - maybe try dropping a guitar or rhythm track here and there - after the chorus?

Good work

This.

I have no criticism, just thought this was a well crafted/performed/produced song.

This is really, really good. Vocals, music, words. Everything works together nicely.  Very pleasant to listen to .............and more than once or twice!

Thanks for sharing and nice title too!

You have a solid song here with a very original sound and style, and yes, I bold typed it for that reason.  You have something very special here.  Easy to listen to.  The only thing that I hear. IMO, is the vocals are just a little to far back in the mix.  I'm not sure if it's the overall added ambiance or that the volume level is too low, and that could just be my old ears working against me.  Other than that it's definitely a keeper.

  Thanks for sharing.

Take care, Dominick/Moptop

Man I'm hearing Phish too here!  What a great jam-band tune, I could listen to this groove all day long!  And on top of the groove you have a great melody and a sweet sweet guitar solo with a nice fat tone - but with note choices almost Duane Allman-esque!!

Thanks so much RoadDog!  I do really like Phish--saw them several times in the 90s--so not surprised with their influence.  I also felt the beginning had more of a Los Lobos sound.  Also very glad you noticed the Duane Allman notes--I was shooting for that when I played it :)

Anyway, Thanks and glad you like it!

Hi B

I didnt mind the vocals being verbed and back in the mix. Gave it an atmospheric feel. Normally I dont even listen to this style of music, but your arrangements are less pretentious and have a certain vibe that isnt always associated with jam bands.

just my two cents worth
