Thought this might be a fun idea for a game. Add to the question 'Where Were You' by posting the title of a song or lyric that either answers the question or extends it.

Examples:

Answered

Where Were You?  'Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay'

Where Were You?  'Standing on the Corner Watching All the Girls Go By'

Where Were You?  'Rolling in the Deep'

Extended

Where Were You - when 'I Kissed A Girl'?

Where Were You - when 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia'?

Where Were You 'The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down'?

Where Were You 'In the Still of the Night'?

And so on.

Heck, might even inspire some new lyrics/songs. ;)

Nice ones, Alistair. ;) 'The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down' was just an example of how the question could be extended. But nothing wrong with responding to that ;)

Like in a lot of challenges/games, mixing-and-matching is fine.

And a couple more:

Where Were You? - 'Under the Boardwalk' (The Drifters)

                          - 'Outside Myself' (k.d. laing)

                          - 'Sugar Mountain' (Neil Young)

                          - 'After the Gold Rush' ("   " )

                          - 'Paper-thin Hotel' (Leonard Cohen)

                          - 'Chelsea Hotel'     ("    "          ")

Where Were You - when I 'Didn't See It Coming'?  (The Professionals)

                        - when 'I Left a Woman Waiting'? (Leonard Cohen)

                        - when 'I Tried to Leave You?'      ("       "        " )

Once more of these have come in - come on, folks! - ;) I'm thinking it might be a fun mini-challenge in this thread to write a lyric using some of the answers/extensions.

Upon the roof

round the corner

at the end of the street

way down yonder in New Orleans

on that midnight train to Georgia

dancing in the dark

waiting for the Robert e Lee

down upon the Swanee river

behind the green door

high on a windy hill

Durban deep

on the yellow brick road

i get arround

to name a few

Just an after thought............If it's the possibility of new lyrical ideas blooming potentially from this fun activity, then why not (assuming I understood the fun task) write our own titles to go with the extension or the answer. Something not yet in a song.  Perhaps from something goofy or cheezy can come inspiration if not for us then for someone else?

Examples off the top of my head

Where were you when killers were on the loose ?  or  When killer bees were on the loose   ?

Where were you On the first night of sex

Where were you?   On the back seat in the car

Where were you ?   In the most dangerous city in the world ?   or   In the most dangerous city on earth

All four or five counting the double for the last one are original of course.   :D

Now where's my ice pack.
