Best rhyme or near rhymes in a song

Recommended Posts

One of my favorites is

she'll tease you, she'll unease you, all the better just to please you

She's precocious and she knows just what to make a pro blush

Bette Davis Eyes

Hi Sod

some very interesting rhyme schemes, but what is the song called, and who is it by.

All the best

Mike

I have a huge preference for rhymes that are conversational and use everyday words to make new and interesting rhymes, rather than trying to be too clever. Jarvis Cocker is just a master at that, Pulp were an amazing band really.

Pulp - Common People

She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge,
She studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College,
That's where I,
Caught her eye.
She told me that her Dad was loaded,
I said "In that case I'll have a rum and coca-cola."
She said "Fine."
And in thirty seconds time...

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us

Smells like teen spirit

She's a Killer by Queen, of course.  Can't swing a dead cat without hitting those killer rhymes.

The highlights

Killer Queen
She keeps Moet et Chandon
In her pretty cabinet
'Let them eat cake' she says
Just like Marie Antoinette

A built-in remedy
For Kruschev and Kennedy

Caviar and cigarettes
Well versed in etiquette

Recommended at the price
Insatiable in appetite

To avoid complications
She never kept the same address
In conversation
She spoke just like a baroness

Perfume came naturally from Paris
For cars she couldn't care less

Needed a break from work...

So I'll resurrect this thread, if only temporarily...

Here's a set of two good near rhymes in a song full of humorous content...

He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays
I caught him once and he was sniffin' my undies
He ain't too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like it's oxygen

In Spite of Ourselves - John Prine
