In My Own House

Recommended Posts

V
Enormous building in my dreams where I belong
It's dark, it's grand, it has secrets and
Wailing beasts in chambers that I don't understand
But I can't stop singing their songs

B/Change
The carpet's red, the furniture mahogany
See right through the ghosts that sit and bother me
They have informal meetings masses quiet as a mouse
Where they kick my arse and tell me I'm wrong
Yeah they kick my arse and tell me I don't belong
In my own house

V
Doubts been creeping underdoor where I hold strong
A deadly sand that spreads the band of
Wailing beasts in chambers that I'll never understand
Yet I'm still singing their songs

In my own house
I can't stop singing their songs
In my own house

'Cause they're catchy and they're true
If not about me, at least about you

In my own house
I can't stop singing their songs
In my own house

But I can't stop singing their songs -  'Can't' sound its forcing you, is it?

Everyone has their own point of view to understand any lyrics. Writer gives that freedom. I think this lyric has magic. I love it.

Wow powerful, If this is about being lonely in a big house I know where your coming from. Also has a Jane Eyre feel. Would "in my house" be a more poignant title. With a dissonance between lyric and title?

I am intrigued. Is this about singing the old songs of ghosts? Cool idea. Could use a bit more focus / fine tune to clarify.

Enormous building in my dreams where I belong.........Kind of awkward phrasing.  Maybe enormous is a hard sing.
It's dark, it's grand, it has secrets and
Wailing beasts in chambers that I don't understand.......... Understand?  If I heard wailing beasts I would be frightened.
But I can't stop singing their songs

B/Change
The carpet's red, the furniture mahogany
See right through the ghosts that sit and bother me
They have informal meetings masses quiet as a mouse..........Maybe informal is too formal a word to use in this line. 2 thoughts in this line, I think, as I'm not sure if "masses" really fit the original thought.
Where they kick my arse and tell me I'm wrong...........I don't think this continuation of thought works with the way you have worded these 2 lines.
Yeah they kick my arse and tell me I don't belong

Doubts been creeping underdoor where I hold strong......do you mean "under the door?"
A deadly sand that spreads the band of
Wailing beasts in chambers that I'll never understand
Yet I'm still singing their songs

I can't stop singing their songs

In my own house

A ghostly story that I don't quite understand.
