Booty, booty, booty

I love the way your booty shakes

a$$, a$$, a$$

girl you know I love that a$$

Money, money, money

Cash, cash, cash

flashin' all my cash!

Party, party, party

Fun, fun, fun

We're just having fun

Drink, drink, drink

we only drink the good stuff

Cool, cool, cool

Shorty, shorty, shorty

got me a hot little shorty

sex, sex, sex

Get with me baby for the best sex

Thank You For Being Our Mom

Verse 1:
When we get hungry
and say please feed me
here comes my mom to
mac and cheese me

While eating popcorn
at the movies
or resting our head
on your big boobies

Pre-Chorus:
We always feel safe
we always feel warm
you hold our little hands
through every thunderstorm

Chorus:
Keepin' us away from harm
always remaining calm
and you love chicken parm
thank you for being our mom
oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh
thank you for being our mom

Verse 2:
You protect us
like a bear cub
and when we're really gross
our bodies clean you scrub

We get to see this stuff
with you at the zoo
ya, giving out the love
that's just what mamas do

Pre-Chorus:
We always feel safe
we always feel warm
you hold our little hands
through every thunderstorm

Chorus:
Keepin' us away from harm
always remaining calm
and you love chicken parm
thank you for being our mom
oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh
thank you for being our mom
oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh
thank you for being our mom

FINIR EN BEAUTÉ

What a night to be in love
and a falling star above
streaks quickly out of view
Oh make a wish, make a wish
but don't tell me what it is
or it will never never come true

Streaks to the sunrise to greet the dawn
Lights up the world as it speeds along

  Feel the room shake
  Hear the windows break
Did it flash before the blink of an eye?
  Signs never read
  exploding overhead
Is that how close we came to die?

That pretty pretty smoke trail hanging in the sky?

All the colors of the storm
and the veil of rain is warm
The world has gone worlds away
Dance with me, dance with me
just like children running free
We can care another day

Come hither now and join me out there
Isn't it just electric like a taste in the air?

  Feel the room shake
  Hear the windows break
Did it flash before the blink of an eye?
  Signs never read
  exploding overhead
Is that how close we came to die?

That gentle roll of thunder in someone's distant sky?

Siren to sailor
Apple to sin
Thrill to chaser
Caution to wind

Beauty plays tame
Sober plays rash
Fools to flame
Fools to ash

Am I beauty? Am I tame?
Am I beauty? Am I tame?

Feel the room shake

It sucks to be you

People "alleluia"
When you walk out the room.
Family changed their numbers;
said "don't call too soon."

You're a walking disaster with no conscience or clue.
It bites and it blows and it sucks to be you.

Strangers see you coming
And they all cross the street.
Neighbors look away
So your eyes  never meet.

Birds stop singing when you come into view.
Squirrels even know that it sucks to be you.
It sucks, it sucks, it sucks the wazoo.
The word on the street is it sucks to be you.

The flies are disgusted,
The cockroaches too.
Mosquitos gag
When they take blood from you.

Suffice it to say that your friends they are few.
By court stipulation it sucks to be you.

Your foul disposition
Makes great birth control.
The devil is warming
A place for your soul.

It sucks to be you, yes it sucks to be you.
The whole night long and the damn day too.
It sucks, it sucks, it sucks the wazoo.
Good god almighty it sucks to be you.

It sucks, it sucks, it sucks, yes it's true.
And so in summation it sucks to be you.

Eve Of Mourning

(Vs)

Hiding in nooks and crannies, shadows are his friend

The fog gives him a blanket, streetlights can't peek in

Sirens in the distance, scream out for him tonight

The darkness is his comfort, the cloak that he holds tight

(Ch)

It's the eve of mourning,

tears fall like the rain

On this eve of mourning,

she's crying out in pain

She's battered and bruised

been hit and abused

On this eve,

eve of mourning

(Vs)

A dog is barking somewhere, car horns pierce the air

a din of city voices are everywhere

Hugging an alley wall, he moves along his way,

followed by a figure that wants to make him pay

(Ch)

It's the eve of mourning,

tears fall like the rain

On this eve of mourning,

she's crying in her pain

She's battered and bruised

been hit and abused

On this eve..

(Bridge)

He hears a sound, he turns around

as the hammers coming down.

He couldn't run from her father's gun

that followed him through town

(End Ch)

It's the eve of mourning,

tears fall like the rain

Her Daddy's on the run

the deed has been done

On this eve of mourning

daddy’s on the run

I know the score

(Verse 1)

Penthouse apartment in the heart of town
Do not disturb sign's uP
But I know what's going Do
wn.

Wrung out woozy

Never been too choosy

Old habits tell the cause,

Your arms are marked

Scars across your heart

Spare me talk of past wars.

(Chorus)
All the money you make
For the ass that you shake
All the moolah
All the dollar
Spent on powder and grape.
I know the score
I know the score
We're into overtime
I’ve got a gun at your door.

(Verse 2)
Fancy bedroom, not a single sound
Showing what you goT
Passed out on the Grou
nd.

Strung out floozies
Guess they like your bluesies
Gold records tile the walls,
My nose is clean
Don't mess with the scene
When I make my house-calls.

(Chorus)
All the money you make
For the ass that you shake
All the moolah
All the dollar
Spent on powder and grape.
I know the score
I know the score
We're into overtime
I’ve got a gun at your door.

(Bridge)
Well, I ain't no cop
Don't walk a beat on this night,
I call and collect
Don't give me no fight.
I got an IOU note
That's been writ by your hand,
I ain't a charitable case
Expect cash on demand.

(Chorus)
All the money you make
For the ass that you shake
All the moolah
All the dollar
Spent on powder and grape.
I know the score
I know the score
We're into overtime
I’ve got a gun at your door.

(Outro)
I got an IOU note
That I know that you wrote,
Yeah, I know the score
I know the score,
Said, I know the score
I know the score.

Mustard fields of Southwold

Among the blazing fields of mustard
Iridescent golden glow
Car engine revving over
The sound of seventies radio
The feeling as we saw ahead us
The blue horizon of the sea
Rising over the the coastal hills
It was wonderful and worry free

Southwold
Town of my childhood
Running through the dunes
Lighthouse, kites balloons
Miles of sea
calling a spirit in me
Southwold

Bundle out with a picnic lunch
Run through dunes and pebbly sand
Wind picking at my legs
Plastic shovel in my hand
After hours of play my mum would call
Out of the sea to eat our lunch
Beef and mustard sandwiches
Sand would make each mouthful crunch

Southwold
Town of my childhood
Running through the dunes
Lighthouse, kites balloons
Miles of sea
calling a spirit in me
Southwold

Well I live far away these days
Havent been since my parents died
But sometimes I fire up google maps
Take myself on a little ride
Mustard fields, the beach the shore
In a way it's like i'm back once more
A family riding in the car
The things that make us who we are

Southwold
Town of my childhood
Running through the dunes
Lighthouse, kites balloons
Miles of sea
calling a spirit in me
Southwold

Drink from the Toilet

I once had a beagle
Who did gross things
Like licking his privates
And rolling in stink

When no-one remembered
To top up his bowl yet
He'd head to the bathroom
And drink from the toilet

{ch}
Now, that water was murky
But he seemed to enjoy it
Man, he must have been thirsty
To drink from a toilet!

I thought of that dog
When I voted last week
I left that place feeling
I'd rolled in a stink

Democracy worked once
But press the fast forward
Now all that it gives us
Is "Buyer's Remorse"

But I picked up that ballot
Took care not to spoil it
Put my "x" in the box
And I drank from that toilet

The water was murky
But I tried to enjoy it
Democracy's thirsty
So I drank from that toilet

{br}
They tell us that we're lucky
That changing would be rough
We'd better swallow all this crap
Or everything will get backed up
..and the system will not flush

So...
Pick up that ballot
Take care not to spoil it
Put your "x" in the box
And drink from that toilet

The water is murky
But you'll learn to enjoy it
Democracy's thirsty
So drink from that toilet!

Yeah. the water is murky
(You really should boil it)
But Democracy's thirsty!
Come drink from the toilet!!

Country Jones

He sings his songs to his girl at night
She claps along in time and it sounds just right
Country Jones big country Jones
That country singin, beer swillin,  guitar pickin, man

He plays the songs that sound real good
You can tell he's got country in his blood
Country Jones oh big country Jones
That country singin, beer swillin,, guitar pickin man

Country Jones, big country Jones
He's got Nashville in his soul
He was born in Birmingham, and I don't mean Alabam
That country singing, beer swilling, whiskey sipping, guitar picking, man

Lead break

Country Jones, big country Jones
The sound of his guitar can break your heart
He dreams of Grande Ole Opry, and he'll get there if he can
That country singin, beer swillin, whiskey sippin,
Woman chasin, husbands hate him
He's only playing, guitar picking man.

Everywhere a Party

V

Gotta love it here on Bourbon Street

Between Canal and Esplanade

Thirteen blocks of clubs and bars

And everywhere a party

Le vieux carre and all that jazz

Some zydeco and delta blues

Thirteen blocks of things to do

And everywhere a party

 C

For the party generation, there’s nowhere in the nation

That’s better for a party than Bourbon Street

Cajun, creole, voodoo queens

Conjured up in New Orleans

Thirteen blocks of loaded scenes

And everywhere a party

Dress me up for Gallatoire’s

A bowl of bouillabaisse

Thirteen blocks to walk it off

And everywhere a party

For the party generation, there’s nowhere in the nation

That’s better for a party than Bourbon Street

OUT

For those who like to party, this is where to party

For those who like to party, this is where to party

For those who like to party, this is where to party

Party to the beat, here on Bourbon Street

For those who like to party, this is where to party

For those who like to party, this is where to party

For those who like to party, this is where to party

Party to the beat, here on Bourbon Street

Behind These Bars

I strayed
I betrayed
Unafraid
And now I hate it here
Behind these bars

I lied
And defied
Till you cried
And now I’m terrified
Behind these bars

(Chorus)
I want to feel your heart’s sweet rhythm
And smooth the pain from your brow
I want to leave this cruel prison
But, baby, I don’t know how

I ache
Nearly break
A mistake
To stay awake in here
Behind these bars

I dream
Or I scream
Unredeemed
As I may seem in here
Behind these bars

(Chorus)
I want to feel your heart’s sweet rhythm
And smooth the pain from your brow
I want to leave this cruel prison
But, baby, I don’t know how

(Bridge)
This is haunting me
The fault is all my own
But it’s up to you to set me free
Baby, please let me come home

I strayed
I betrayed
Unafraid
And now I hate it here
Behind these bars

I lied
And defied
Till you cried
And now I’m terrified
Behind these bars

(Final Chorus)
I want to feel your heart’s sweet rhythm
And smooth the pain from your brow
I want to leave this cruel, cruel prison
It’s something only you can allow

War’s the Devil’s Game

Verse 1

We rode out of Carolina

Headed north to Fredericksburg

In place when battle started

And lines began to surge

Verse 2

Humanity had stumbled

There seemed no other way

When the cannons rumbled

We joined in the fray

Chorus

Destruction’s pulled its covers

We’ve only ourselves to blame

No winners, only losers

War’s the devil’s game

Verse 3

Fog filled the violence

Guns roared; blood flowed

Death groaned in the distance

Grew louder as we rode

Verse 4

We fought amid skirmishes

Kept our enemy in sight

Fear never diminished

We fought with all our might

Chorus

Destruction’s pulled its covers

We’ve only ourselves to blame

No winners, only losers

War’s the devil’s game

Congrats Fabkebab! I was thinking you were going to win, or that "Everywhere A Party" might. There were some really good entries in this contest, and I enjoyed reading them all and participating. "It Sucks To Be You" and Country Jones" were two I (personally) really liked also, plus...well..lets just say again, there were some mighty fine lyrics in this! Thanks for the read and votes!

Thanks for the votes everyone - It was nice to be at the "other end" of the standings after coming dead last in April!

I always think the true story of the competition is in the individual scores - although I had the lowest average, my best score was  a 2 - there are a lot of 1.5's given to other entrants so congratulations to all of you!!

And of course - a huge thanks to Iggy - these competitions only work if one of us steps up to volunteer!

I liked yours too. I thought yours was very clever Paul. I think it's the toilet reference that hurt it in the voting. Before the results were announced,  I had suspected that you wrote thank you for being our mom, which i also enjoyed.  There were positives in every entry.  I know that sounds like a cliche, but it's true.

Congrats to fabkebab! Nice homage. And congrats as well to LooknGlass and John. My favorite was kuya's, actually. But not enough people agreed with me, buddy! And if it sucks to be you, where does that leave me? :(

I had Mustard and Eve in second.

Huge thank you to iggy for running the show!

Yeah I figured it wouldn't do well on this site - though it has been well received on my other forum.

It's a punk rock tune at least in my head.. :)

Hi Doug! My lyric was actually based on true events - We used to go to the seaside once or twice a year, and it was always to southwold on the coast of East Anglia in UK. I actually did fire up google maps recently to remind myself of what it all looked like.

One thing I didnt mention is that we used to go to Southwold because the sea was reputed to be a bit warmer than elsewhere, on account of the nearby nuclear power generator 2-3 miles south of the town :-)

I thought that was a bit of poetry which might burst the bubble

The best part about Iggy hosting is the relief of not having to compete against his lyrics. We all know how that usually goes!

Yes, best left out. Nostalgia doesn't mix so well with nukes. :)

I had stuff come up, and completely forgot to get my scores in...so apologies everyone...

I wrote the one "Modern Pop Music". Though I would suspect that if I got my scores in that one wouldn't score very high. ;-)

I did too. I didn't know Kuya, so I thought you'd written that. It had a bit of the "We Frown On" vibe.

The vibe reminded me of an ancient Rush tune, "Lakeside Park". (Which I've been to, actually.)

I love Rush - and that was perhaps the first song of theirs that I got into (still in my Southwold days) - so maybe an unintentional connection!
