"Reply" and "Add Reply"

Recommended Posts

THIS MESSAGE IS FOR NEWCOMERS, OR MEMBERS WHO ARE USING THE QUOTE FUNCTION INCORRECTLY

There are two different buttons for responding to a post, each with a different function:

1) The “Reply” button on the lower right side of the last post in the thread. The word “reply” is in quotes. When you use this button, it quotes the entire post that you are responding to

2) The Add Reply button on the lower right side of the last post in the thread, just to the left of the “New Topic” button. The words “Add Reply” are not in quotes. When you use this button, it does not quote the post you are responding to

Please, do not use the “Reply” button if you are not actually quoting the original post. It clutters up the threads with a lot of unnecessary blue text in boxes, which is not only extremely annoying; it makes it harder to find what you really want to say.

If you just want to make a comment, use the Add Reply button.

Use the “Reply” button only when you actually want to quote a post.

This notice will be pinned as well.

Use the “Reply” button only when you actually want to quote a post.

Or part of a post.

For example if there are just one or two lines in a large post that you want to comment on, just quote the relevant lines (like I have done here with jonie's post). It will make you own post clearer, succinct and more readable
