The first song you ever wrote?

Recommended Posts

A fellow St. Louis-an....go figure! ;) Welcome Carla!

My first effort...

"Slow Down"mp3

(Lyrics)

I smile and start another day

You smile and tell me it’s OK

We should have known we would get through it

You’d think we’d know by now

I promise I….won’t drink much tonight

I know I blame my life on you

You tell me I don’t have a clue

You should have known not to back-talk me

I’d think you’d know by now

I know that I….said I would slow down

Should slow down

Must slow down

Will slow down

Next week swear I’ll slow down!

I get up & start another day

You’re not here to tell me it’s OK

I should have known you didn’t love me

You’d think I’d know by now

I don’t care if….I ever slow down!

I can still remember my first one. I wrote this one with John Denver in mind, back when John was still very much around. As a backup I could picture Willie Nelson singing it.  For some reason I always had to picture a particular person singing it. Just a guy strumming his guitar to a live audience, with the audience singing along on the refrain.  This is more or less the way I remember it. Hehe

Ramblin Song

I was born to sing a  ramblin song,

Ramblin song, ramblin song

I was born to sing a ramblin song

Sing my ramblin song

Sing it all day and all night long

All night long, all night long

Sing it all day and all night long

Sing my ramblin song

It ain't alright but it ain't all wrong

Ain't all wrong, ain't all wrong

It ain't alright but it ain't all wrong

Sing my ramblin song

Well, pretty soon now and I'll be gone

I'll be gone, I'll be gone

Well, pretty soon now and I'll be gone

Sing my ramblin song

Then who's gonna sing my song

Sing my song, sing my song

Then who's gonna sing my song

Sing my ramblin song

I could just ramble on and on

On and on, on and on

I could just ramble on and on

Sing my ramblin song

I started writing bits of song ideas, and kept going at it till I was becoming better

i still have those first musings and the one day I'll go back and try to make much more of them maybe.

When I do I,ll consider these as my first songs, and I,ll put one on here

By the way I liked your first song, how did you come about it please?

All the best

Mike
