    Mini Contest

I've been singing the following lyrics to my son for three years now. The first person to guess the stolen music wins a heaping pile of nullity. Are you sleepy Are you sleepy My sweet boy My sweet boy It is time for sleeping It is time for sleeping Sleep my son Sleep my son

    Paint the Nighttime Blue

Paint the Nighttime Blue Verse 1 In the bar you see 'em You might see ‘em (original first line) hiding in plain sight So invisible they just blend into the night Empty eyes that say it all without a sound The dream is gone best just to wash it down Pre-Chorus Rolling out tonight, to drown it all and play the fool Got on my red shoes baby, but I’m gonna paint the nighttime blue Verse 2 Like a color photo that’s aged to black and white Memories faded just like a dimming light When the light has gone and the sun has finally set Darkness comes with a glass and a cigarette Pre-Chorus Rolling out tonight, to drown it all and play the fool Got on my red shoes baby, but I’m gonna paint the nighttime blue Chorus 1 Gonna paint the nighttime blue honey, Paint the nighttime blue Drown out all the shattered dreams and forget all about you Gonna paint the nighttime blue honey, Paint the nighttime blue Pour out some solace, drown in my taboo Verse 3 A dusty mirror with an image they don’t recognize It blurs the edges hides the truth from their eyes Some see the face from a distant yesterday And not the portrait of old Dorian Gray Pre-Chorus Rolling out tonight, to drown it all and play the fool Got on my red shoes baby, but I’m gonna paint the nighttime blue Chorus 2 Gonna paint the nighttime blue honey, Paint the nighttime blue Drown out all the shattered dreams and forget all about you Gonna paint the nighttime blue honey, Paint the nighttime blue Wash away the colors, until my sweet adieu Just wash away the colors, until my sweet adieu My contest entry, I was gonna sit on this one a bit, but since a bunch of the contest entries are on the board now, this seemed like a good time to get some feedback from other participants, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I actually considered changing first line just for the contest, to make it more immediately apparent what I was talking about to: 'In the bar you see 'em' hiding in plain sight' But that seemed like cheating to me, so I didn't. So i posted it after the 'drunken night' song that I hoped would put people in the right frame of mind. Anyway, all feedback welcome.
