    The Miner's Lullaby

I have been absent but very busy doing all sorts of writing. The Miner's Lullaby Digging for gold in Mother's deep womb All is sold for another to take and consume All I am left with is my broken hands And weary, weary eyes nobody understands I am a worker a miner that is my trade Misery and trouble are the wages paid I would rather fly in heaven's blue sky But it is hell below until the day I die So I sing the miner's lullaby Banished from the light of the day It is a hell of a fight to earn my pay But I have hopes for my children dear So I toil and labor brave in my fear I am a worker a miner that is my trade Misery and trouble are the wages paid I would rather fly in heaven's blue sky But it is hell below until the day I die So I sing the miner's lullaby In a moment the tunnel turns to grave Trapped a mile below never to save It is always in the back of our mind The mines are bitter the mines unkind I am a worker a miner that is my trade Misery and trouble are the wages paid I would rather fly in heaven's blue sky But it is hell below until the day I die So I sing the miner's lullaby May my son live to a gentler life May he marry and have a pleasant wife May he never step his foot a mile below May his daddy's ways he never know I am a worker a miner that is my trade Misery and trouble are the wages paid I would rather fly in heaven's blue sky But it is hell below until the day I die So I sing the miner's lullaby

When Do's The Next Train Leave

I'm waiting for the train to anywhere When does it leave? I waiting for the train to anywhere I'm trying to believe Tell me station master the time to depart When does it leave? Ain't no cure for my broken heart I'm trying to believe I'm looking at the schedule You say it already left? I'm the biggest fool For all the tears I've wept just some of my thoughts inspired by what you have.

    Hey Diane

I wrote this song to cheer up a friend. Her story is laced inside the lyric. Hey Diane Once the world was a wonderful place Full of love full of joy full of grace Nothing good lasts forever so it seems It was hello nightmares goodbye dreams Hey Diane I know you can Hang on for another day Hey Diane I know you can Have the hope to pray Hey Diane I know you can Find that narrow way Well darkness is a dangerous foe And friends they seem to come and go But somehow we learn how to get by We find the strength to give another try Hey Diane I know you can Hang on for another day Hey Diane I know you can Have the hope to pray Hey Diane I know you can Find that narrow way Somewhere I hear the sweet sound of angelic choirs In a land so grand that none have any desires By faith we walk this world though blind Hold on to the love ones who treated you kind One day you will awake to the light And life will be an endless delight Hold on Diane with all of your might Tomorrow is going to be bright Hey Diane I know you can Hang on for another day Hey Diane I know you can Have the hope to pray Hey Diane I know you can Find that narrow way

There's Nothing Sweeter Than A Dream

I am uneasy about rhyming the same word. Here's a suggestion There's nothing sweeter than a dream V1Especially when I'm dreaming, about youNow all I have to do, is make it come trueBut that will depend on what you do A subtle change I know.

    Home

I like what you have here and it seems like a good start. I am always uncomfortable about rhyming with the same word. In fact, unless it is done by design I don't like repeating the same word. Of course, song lyrics need to be put to melodies which is what differentiates them from poems. You would have to adjust some of the lines if you wanted to do that.

    Jessie

I haven't been around in a long while. Just got another batch of songs copyrighted. Still looking for collaborators to work with my lyrics. Anyway here is one of those songs. I think it has merit and good lines but it really needs to be cut down. So take out your razor blades but cut with kindness. Jessie Hey Jessie don’t let up get you down A smile is a just a backward frown So you’re too rich to be cool You’re so good at playing the fool And Jessie wants to have fun So Jessie went on the run Jessie what have you done? Jessie life had just begun Jessie what have you done? Society is sweet drinking Champaign But my how the bored can complain So slumming was the order of the day And slumming meant all of the way And Jessie wants to have fun So Jessie went on the run Jessie what have you done? Jessie life had just begun Jessie what have you done? Three months later what a surprise And some things don’t vanish by lies Daddy remember that Saturday night? Well things didn’t turn out quite right And Jessie wants to have fun So Jessie went on the run Jessie what have you done? Jessie life had just begun Jessie what have you done? Well Jessie you got to remember my name Besides life will just go on the same After all you only got yourself to blame Best mother don’t hear about your shame And Jessie wants to have fun So Jessie went on the run Jessie what have you done? Jessie life had just begun Jessie what have you done? And the darkness casts shadows that can transform To make a devil from an angel that was never born And Jessie weeps in her cage of gold And Jessie she does what she is told Now Jessie is a winter’s night Always a hassle always a fight A secret she can never share An emptiness always there Jessie she knows the sin Of what might have been And Jessie wants to have fun So Jessie went on the run Jessie what have you done? Jessie life had just begun Jessie what have you done?

    Two by Two

I like this as right away it made me smile. It would be nice as a children's song. I guess you could tweak the lyrics when you do a melody. John

    I Got Blues

Maybe double up with four lines per stanza. Like this,. Now listen to me And my stange point of view I was told to conform But I just had to refuse I got blues I got blues I got blues And then after you do that you can work on wordplay between the four lines before the chorus. Now listen to me And my strange views I was told how to be But I had to refuse See how you can say the same thing while keeping both the spirit and poetics intact. If you go through it again and follow my suggestions let me know and I'll try to help you if you like. Thanks for sharing, John

    Poem To Lyric And Royalties

The woman wanted only to give me credit but in case it made money wanted to keep it all. I thought it fair that if she was going to change my poem into lyrics that I should get half of the credit for writing the lyrics or one quarter ownership of the song. To this she wouldn't agree and said she was too busy. But if I had given up everything she would have done it. For the record here's the poem. Sincerely, John Kaniecki Vision Of Compassion By John Kaniecki I object to the rule of might Satanic soldiers sickly insane I will do what is right For Love and kindness is never vain Raise your voice lift a clenched fist Resist! 14. Hello, Hope all are well. I write poems for people on Facebook for new friends on their birthdays. It is my hope that they will purchase my books which happens once in about a week and a half. Also on the upside is that I am motivated to write, I write on topics I would never have thought of and my collection is growing extremely voluminous. So today a woman replied with this. WOW - your powerful poem gave me tears of hope! No promises (maybe just a pipe dream), but as long as you are credited, do we have permission to put it to music, record, distribute for $ pls? (Lucky if we break even.) Which will require modifying the words, deleting some and adding others etc, to turn 'em into lyrics. (My son is discarding a couple of songs due to bad lyrics but w/ great music, and he's a better songwriter than me, so maybe I'll adapt these lyrics there.) PS I'm ordering your book. Anyway I'm not prepared just to let her use my poem without a share of the royalties. But what would the proper percentage be? On one side of the chicken farm I don't want to get ripped off, on the other side of the chicken farm I don't want to lose an opportunity. I offered to work with the woman with my lyrics but as of yet I made no commitment to allow her to use my poem. So could anybody help? Sincerely, John Kaniecki
  15. Time To Stand Up? by John Kaniecki When Pilgrim pride Committed genocide Did you stand? When from across the sea Merchants delt chattel slavery Did you stand? When immigrants of all ages Were paid starvation wages Did you stand? When Jim Crow did reign Inflicting bitter pain Did you stand? When they desecrated sacred Mother Earth Violating indigenous worth Did you stand? When imperialism dominated And atrocities were created Did you stand? When the police time and time again Gun down black young men Did you stand? When the C.I.A. in sin Flooded the hood with heroin Did you stand? When trillions were spent on war And nothing to the poor Did you stand? Did you stand for every injustice and wrong? Then why should I stand for your racist song?
