Verse 1 & 2: Bartender give me a whiskey shot Make it stout, give it all you got Let me tell you about the week I've had I need some Jack, and I need it bad Too much stress from my so-called job My man dumped me for a guy named Bob My week's been nothing but a landslide I feel like I need a damn good cry Chorus: It's time to let the good times roll Need to feel it down deep in my soul Smile, let your heart be free Be who you want to be It's life, that's a fact Just relax and meet my friend Jack Verse 3 & 4: Nothing's going right My best friend and I got in a fight I've been trying to get some sleep But Mr. Sandman keeps avoiding me So I'm here for some numbing flavor Ready for some bad behavior Leave behind a week of hell Sit, talk, laugh and drink a spell Bridge: Gonna grab the bull by the horns; take it for a ride Get ready to walk with me on the wild side Let fun have its way with me tonight Chorus: It's time to let the good times roll Need to feel it down deep in my soul Smile, let your heart be free Be who you want to be It's life, that's a fact Just relax and meet my friend Jack
I will have to ponder this...but what I can comment on right now is that I like the flow and imagery put forth into this. For the most part it seems to flow, but has a hiccup in the rhyming scheme. Unfortunately, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to sonnets. My two favorite lines, so far, are: 'Thick quagmires of contradiction to plod; this journey left the soul drenched in hunger.' Nice imagery and flow within these two lines! There's something, though, within the body of your poem that feels a little lacking- maybe a little off. I'll have to ponder ir further so I'll be able to describe it better in my review. Thanks for allowing me this opportunity to be of help to you! Hope you have a great day, my friend.
