About Me

My name is Carl. Spent four years living and working in southeast Asia, in the kingdom of Thailand. Love travel, interacting, and meeting new people. Find traveling to new places to be a more exciting learning experience than sitting in a classroom. Enjoy a good laugh, have a dark sense of humor, and consider myself down to earth, straight forward, free spirited and quiet by nature as well as devilish. I like people who tell it like it is and are not afraid to rock the boat, especially when the boat needs to be rocked. I'm also politically incorrect and don't like labels.

I like music and lyrics that at times can be controversial but at heart have a good message as well as music and lyrics that can charge the emotions. Like to think outside the box and believe taking risks in anything in life be it in the way of writing lyrics, music or otherwise, the only way to learn, grow and improve.

As for musical influences, I have a wide variety in what appeals to me. I mostly like songs you'd hear on the radio from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and today. I don't have one particular artist I'd single out that reflects how or what I would like my music to sound like once a melody has been created for lyrics I've written, but I do have artists that have motivated me to write, so here are a few.
60's - Simon & Garfunkel, Jefferson Airplane/Starship(80's), Mamas & The Papas, The doors, Roy Orbison, James Brown
70's - Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Carly Simon, Barry White, Steve Miller Band, ABBA, Robert Palmer, Elton John, David Bowie, Earth Wind & Fire, Blondie, Donna Summer, Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Carlos Santana
80's - Heart, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel, Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Prince, Whitney Houston, The Cars, Eurythmics, Gloria Estefan, Foreigner, Queen, INXS, Chaka Khan, Pet Shop Boys, Pat Benatar, Tears For Fears, Level 42, Billy Idol, Sade, Corey Hart
90's Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, Savage Garden, Mary J Blige, Enigma, Roxette
Today - Lady Gaga, Pink, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Rihanna

Guess I'm a product of pop, and perhaps to some that word in itself is a dirty word around muse corners, but so be it.

I also like adult contemporary songs, smooth jazz, reggae and classical music. Some rap & hip hop too. (Tupac Shakur (2Pac)- California Love)

If you've taken the time to read everything I've written about myself and musical interests, I thank you :)

Thanks for your suggestions on "Unreturned". I knew the lyrics needed help, I just didn't know how much. Counthound.
